Luke Bielawski, J.D., '13
The summer before he graduated, Luke Bielawski literally golfed his way across the United States. He he did it to help others in a unique way through his “From Tee to Shining Tee” program.
The Fishers resident helped to raise scholarship funds for Providence Cristo Rey High School, a private college prep school that caters to students from families of limited means.
It was Bielawski’s way of giving back. He says he is grateful for the education he received at Cathedral High School, and he wants to help at-risk youth to have the same benefits. To do that, Bielawski spent several months striking a golf ball the entirety of the United States, from just south of Ventura, California to Charleston, South Carolina.
His estimated 48,000-swing journey began on May 7, 2013 in California. Each mile took approximately 19 minutes to traverse, and the entire tripwas roughly 100 days. The highly memorable journey was made up of many unexpected obstacles (cars, rivers, ditches, etc.), but also included a visit with former President George W. Bush while traveling across Texas.
