Kevin ErdmanLaw school students with an interest in intellectual property law are invited to the Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation on the canal for our next luncheon speaker. The IP Center is proud to host a presentation by Kevin Erdman on Thursday, September 27th from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. His presentation is titled “ Being a Patent Attorney: What you need to qualify, and how legal practice is different in the Patent Office .”

Erdman focuses his practice on advising software and internet centric businesses about the legal landscape. He deals with intellectual property in all aspects, from patent and trademark issues to privacy, commercial, and advertising concerns in today’s complex and constantly changing computing and telecommunications environment.

Erdman started practicing with small IP boutique firms in Silicon Valley, California, then Fort Wayne, Indiana, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution. In the early 90′s his firm created the IP section of a large general practice firm. Practicing as a partner in the general practice firm for decades, his practice expanded into various commercial and IP transactions in the software and internet technologies and industries, both domestic and international. His clientele includes local companies and businesses based on several continents.

Erdman is active in several legal and technical organizations, often presenting to private and public audiences on various intellectual property subjects. Often attending ITechLaw, FICPI, INTA, and international soccer events, he draws on a network of international legal specialists to achieve legal solutions. In today’s dynamic business/technological/legal situations, Erdman calls on these resources to formulate legal strategies for effectively meeting legal and business needs—from crafting a patent portfolio strategy to architecting a global customer data service strategy.
