After working for three years as an associate attorney specializing in insurance defense and business litigation, Amy returned to Indiana University—Bloomington to pursue a Ph.D. in United States History. During her time as a graduate student, she taught classes in Law, Culture & Society, United States Legal History, and United States History. From 2003-2007, she served as the Academic Advisor for Indiana University—Bloomington’s Liberal Arts and Management Program (LAMP). In 2008, she returned to practicing law with a focus on consumer bankruptcy litigation and later enhanced her litigation experience by representing creditors in state and federal secured creditor litigation. She returned to the world of higher education student academic affairs and academic administration in 2011 when she became the Honors Program Coordinator at Butler University, where her responsibilities included guiding students through the University-wide Honors Program, assisting students with completion of their undergraduate honors theses, administering the conferral of commencement honors, and developing curricular and co-curricular programming within the University Honors Program.

Ms. Elson's combination of professional and academic experience allows her to employ a comprehensive approach to student academic advising and program administration for the Hall Center for Law and Health. Her responsibilities include student academic advising and support for J.D. students contemplating and pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Health Law. She also provides academic advising for students completing health-law related joint degree programs (JD/MPH, JD/MHA, JD/MA, JD/MSW, and JD/MD). In addition to providing student services, she works closely with the Hall Center’s Co-Directors and faculty to administer the Center’s daily operations and to develop and deliver Hall Center programming.
