Bio

Miriam Murphy supervises the day to day operations of the library. She teaches in the legal research course for both the first-year and the second-year law students. She also teaches courses in the School for Library and Information Science.

She is active in numerous professional committees at the national, regional and local levels. She has held leadership positions in state and regional library associations. She chaired the Legal Information Gateway Task Force, directing the creation of the Legal Information Gateway, an informational brochure and web page for pro-se patrons and librarians who provide legal reference service. She just completed a three year elected term on the IUPUI Campus Promotion & Tenure Committee and now serves on the IUPUI Faculty Council Campus Planning Committee. Publications include a book on moving an academic law library, a chapter in a bar association practitioner’s guide on creating a law firm library, and guest editing an issue of Indiana Libraries, as well as several research guides. She is currently co-authoring a book on Indiana legal research.

Prior to her appointment to the law library faculty she spent several years as Head of Public Services at the Professional Center Library, Wake Forest University School of Law. She has also held library positions at the Baker & Daniels law firm and Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.
