U.S. Military Commission Observation Project

The Pentagon’s Guantanamo Bay Convening Authority granted “NGO Observer Status” to the IU McKinney Program in International Human Rights Law (PIHRL).

The PIHRL established the “Military Commission Observation Project” (“MCOP”) which will implement PIHRL responsibilities as a selected NGO Observer.

MCOP representatives may travel to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to attend, observe, analyze, critique, and publish materials on the hearings. Travel may also be to the Ft. Meade, Maryland military base where the same Guantanamo Bay hearings may be viewed via secure video-link.

IU Affiliates selected to participate at particular hearings will be notified as early as possible before the hearing dates. When new dates are posted on this MCOP website, it is recommended that you complete new online forms for the new dates (even if you already completed online forms).  In all cases please continue to check this MCOP website for new, rescheduled or cancelled hearings.  Please also register to receive posts from www.GitmoObserver.com.  Thank you again for your interest in this important project.
