Douglas K. Norman, ’88, is Vice President and General Patent Counsel for Eli Lilly and Company. Doug Norman is also a member of the Board of Directors of IPO, the Intellectual Property Owner’s Association. IPO is the leading association for owners of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, and the only association in the U.S. that serves all intellectual property owners in all industries and all fields of technology. Mr. Norman recently served as President of the IPO, where he has also served in numerous other leadership roles. Mr. Norman is also currently Chair of the National Association of Manufacturer’s subcommittee for Intellectual Property. He was the 2002 co-Chair of the Intellectual Property and Anti-Trust Task Force for the United States Council for International Business and served from 2002 through 2006 as the Chair of the Intellectual Property Task Force for PhRMA, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. He also currently serves as Chair of the PhRMA Intellectual Property Staff working Group. Doug Norman’s illustrious career has included many aspects of patent law, including procurement, licensing, and litigation at the highest level of patent practice. Doug Norman received his B.S. in Microbiology from Indiana University in 1981 and his J.D., cum laude, from this law school in 1988.
