Professor Bravo Participates in Business and Human Rights Conference
Professor Karen Bravo took part in the ground-breaking conference “Business and Human Rights: Moving Forward, Looking Back,” held September 23 and 24, 2013, at the University of West Virginia College of Law.
The conference is believed to be the first of its kind in the United States, drawing academics and practitioners from around the world, including Dr. Michael K Addo, a member of the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights. Bill Richardson, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and former governor of New Mexico, was the keynote speaker for the Festival of Ideas held in conjunction with the conference.
Professor Bravo collaborated with Associate Professor Jena Martin of the University of West Virginia College of Law in organizing the conference, which was the product of a University of West Virginia competitive grant program, and was supported by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights. The papers presented at the conference will be collected in an edited volume which will be co-edited by Professors Bravo and Martin.
Professor Bravo is a Dean’s Fellow and Associate Dean for International Affairs at IU McKinney.
