Professor Winters Invited to Take Part in American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics/SLU Health Law Scholars Workshop, Yale Food Symposium


Diana WintersProfessor Diana R.H. Winters has been invited to take part in Saint Louis University School of Law’s 2013 Health Law Scholars Workshop, October 10-12. She will present a paper titled “A Necessary State: Maintaining the balance between federal regulation and state law requirements in the wake of Mutual Pharmaceutical Company v. Bartlett.”

Sponsored by the SLU Center for Health Law Studies and the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics, the workshop is a forum for junior faculty who are new to health law and bioethics scholarship, where they can present works-in-progress and receive in-depth advice from experienced scholars and teachers in the field.

Professor Winters also has been invited to take part in the Yale Food Systems Symposium, slated for October 18 and 19. The theme for this year’s event is “Urbanization and Food System Transformation.” She will be a part of a panel discussion on October 19 with the topic "Federal Food Policy." She will talk about her paper titled "Why the Food Safety Modernization Act  Isn’t Enough: The Need for a New Paradigm."

Professor Winters is an Associate Professor of Law and a Dean’s Fellow. She teaches torts, introduction to health law and policy, environmental law, and food and drug law. She joined the faculty at IU McKinney in 2012.
