IU McKinney Professors Present at International Workshop in Oslo
Professors Frank Emmert and Carrie Hagan were panelists during the “Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility” international workshop held at the University of Oslo in Norway on November 25 and 26.
Professor Emmert presented on a panel titled “Rules of Professional Responsibility: Emerging Trends and Global Best Practices.” His topic was “Independence with Accountability – Ethics and Professional Responsibility Standards for Judges and Arbitrators: Protecting our Judges from Third Parties and Themselves.” This panel was held on November 25.
Professor Hagan presented on a panel titled “Teaching Legal Ethics: Multidisciplinary and Clinical Perspectives.” Her topic was “Client Centered Lawyering and Professionalism in a Clinical Setting.” This panel was held on November 26.
Professor Emmert is the John S. Grimes Professor of Law and the Executive Director of the Center for International and Comparative Law. He has advised various governments and multinational enterprises, and speaks frequently at conferences and seminars in Europe and the U.S. His publications include more than 10 books and 40 articles in the areas of European Union, international and comparative law.
Professor Hagan is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law. She directs the law school’s Civil Practice Clinic, which specializes in indigent client representation for civil cases involving housing, consumer, divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, and domestic violence civil protection order issues.
