Awards and Commencement Appointments Announced at Barristers Ball


At the annual Barristers Ball on Saturday, March 1 at the Indiana Roof, the Student Bar Association announced the recipients of several awards, as well as appointments related to the 2014 commencement ceremony.

The Cane Awards for outstanding faculty and administration were presented to Professor Michael Pitts, who received the Black Cane Award for Most Outstanding Professor; Professor Frank Sullivan, who received the Red Cane Award for Most Outstanding New Professor; and Dean Andrew Klein, who received the Velma Dobbins White Cane Award for Most Outstanding Administrator.

Appointments for commencement are graduation speakers Joe Cermak, who will speak on behalf of the day division; Zach Karanovich, who will speak for the evening division; and Li Wei, who will speak for the LL.M. division. Hooding professors for J.D. students will be Professors Frank Sullivan, Eric Dannenmaier, Lahny Silva, and George Wright. Hooding professors for the LL.M. graduates will be Professors Tom Wilson and Frank Sullivan.

IU McKinney Law Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sagamore Ballroom of the Indiana Convention Center.
