Hall Center Affiliate Professor Heather McCabe,'03, Comments on ACA Poll Showing Number of Uninsured Has Dropped
Heather McCabe, ’03, an assistant professor at the IU School of Social Work, commented on a recent Gallup Poll that suggest the number of uninsured Americans is at its lowest level since 2008. This comes after the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, which launched October 31, 2013, and the expansion of Medicaid in many states.
"I think the [Gallup poll] shows that the Affordable Care Act is moving us in the right direction," Professor McCabe said in a story published on Al Jazeera’s website http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/5/5/obamacare-uninsuredenrollment.html May 5. “But mending the U.S. health care system,” she said, “is not going to be a short-term fix.”
Professor McCabe practiced social work at Riley Hospital for Children before earning her law degree at IU McKinney. She was executive director of the Hall Center for Law and Health, until she joined the faculty of the IU School of Social Work in 2009. She teaches as an adjunct professor for the Hall Center for Law and Health.
