Reunion Held in Beijing for Chinese Alumni

The annual reunion of Chinese alumni of the IU McKinney School of Law was held on June 2, 2013, in Beijing. Chinese nationals who earned LL.M. and J.D. degrees were joined at the reunion by Chinese law professors who are alumni of IU McKinney's visiting scholar program. Over 125 students from China have graduated from the IU McKinney School of Law since 2003. Dean Gary Roberts and Professor Tom Wilson represented the law school at the reunion, which included a special event—the unveiling of a painting of lady justice in China. The painting, by Indianapolis artist Donna Carr, is a gift from the IU McKinney School of Law to the Renmin University of China Law School. Carr described the message conveyed by the symbolism in the painting, and Dean Roberts said the gift recognizes the deep and long-standing relationship between the two law schools. The two schools have been partners for the Chinese Law Summer Program for 16 years, which represents the longest continuous international relationship for both schools.
