Gretchen Gutman, '97, Named Vice President of Public Policy for Cook Group

Gretchen GutmanGretchen Gutman, ’97, has joined Bloomington-based Cook Group as vice president of public policy. She is a 20-year veteran of legislative and government policy work, most recently as associate vice president for governmental relations at Ball State University. She spent eight years as chief advisor to the Indiana General Assembly’s Senate Finance Committee, and was a partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister in Indianapolis, where she worked with Cook Group on state government policy.

“I am excited to be joining an Indiana legend, with a team of talented employees and a deep commitment to producing innovative, leading health care products,” Gutman said. “In my new role, I look forward to sharing the Cook story of history and achievement with legislators and governmental bodies in the United States and abroad.”

Cook Group was founded in Bloomington in 1963, and today makes 16,000 products that are distributed to 135 countries. Cook works closely with doctors to create technologies that eliminate the need for open surgery, developing medical devices, biologic materials, and cellular therapies to help the world’s healthcare systems deliver better outcomes more efficiently.
