Two IU McKinney Alumni Named Inaugural 2014 Pro Bono Clerks
Viorel Ciobanu, ’13, and Reham Hewedak, ’13, have been chosen as the Heartland Pro Bono Council’s inaugural class of pro bono clerks for 2014.
While the clerkships are unpaid, in exchange for taking a minimum number of pre-screened pro bono cases for Heartland, each clerk receives benefits including at least three hours of CLE courses in family law; access to Marion County Civil Court judicial officers via quarterly “brown bag” lunch meetings; an experienced family law mentor; malpractice insurance coverage for the pro bono cases; and hands-on experience.
Ciobanu is an attorney with the firm Ciobanu Law. He was an ICLEO fellow, a member of the Deans Tutorial Society, and a pro bono clerk in the Attorney General’s office Medicaid fraud control unit.
Hewedak was a legal extern in the Family and Social Services Administration, a clerk at Aguilar Law Office, a certified legal extern in the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in the Juvenile Division and the Domestic Violence Division, and a legal extern at The Julian Center. Hewedak has her own solo practice.
