Professor Bravo Invited to British Academy
Professor Karen Bravo has been invited to speak at the British Academy for the Humanities and Social Sciences in London. She will participate in a 2-day conference: “Slaveries Old and New: The Meaning of Freedom,” which is scheduled to take place March 27 and 28.
The British Academy is an independent national academy of Fellows elected for their eminence in research and publication. It is the UK's expert body that supports and speaks for the humanities and social sciences. Conference conveners include Dr. Laura Brace, University of Leicester; Dr. Mark Johnson, University of Hull; and Professor Julia O’Connell Davidson, University of Nottingham. The conference will examine a variety of forms of historical and modern day slaveries. Professor Bravo’s lecture “Interrogating the State's Roles in Today's Slaveries,” is based on one of her current research projects.
