Scott Bates Speaks at Indianapolis Committee on Foreign Relations Meeting

Scott Bates, pSteve Tuchman Scott Bates Professor George Edwards Ying Chenresident of the Center for National Policy in Washington, D.C., and a long-serving adjunct professor at IU McKinney School of Law, was the speaker at a meeting of the Indianapolis Committee on Foreign Relations (ICFR) on March 6.

The Center for National Policy connects senior policy makers with the most innovative thinking and research on issues that impact American security. Bates is the former Secretary of State for Virginia, and served as senior policy advisor to the United States House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee. After September 11, Bates became the first Senior Policy Advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee and was the principal author of "Winning the War on Terror" which helped inform the 9/11 Commission in its deliberations and development of its report. He helped lead the team that produced a dozen reports on homeland security issues ranging from border security to bioterrorism.

Steve Tuchman, ’71, is president of ICFR. The recent meeting was attended by IU McKinney Professor George Edwards, and Ying Chen, S.J.D. ’13, LL.M. ’07.
