Michele L. Jackson, '00, to Receive Young Entrepreneur Award from Walker Theatre Center
Michele L. Jackson, ’00, a founding partner of law firm Harden Jackson LLC, will receive the Young Entrepreneur Award from the Madame Walker Theatre Center at the 9th annual Spirit Awards Gala on April 26.
Jackson is chair of the Adoption and Reproductive Law Practice Group at her firm, and concentrates her practice in adoption, surrogacy, and international family law. She has served as an adjunct law professor at IU McKinney, and taught International Comparative Family Law and International Organizations Law. She is the founder of The Global Orphan Foundation, a not-for-profit that raises funds and provides supplies and services to orphanages around the world, as well as grants to those who wish to adopt internationally but lack the funds to do so.
The Walker Center’s mission is to preserve and advance Madame C.J. Walker’s legacy through arts, entertainment, cultural education, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement. Madame Walker, born Sarah Breedlove in 1867, was an entrepreneur and philanthropist, regarded as the first female self-made millionaire in the United States.
