09/14/2022
IU McKinney Professor Yvonne Dutton is the co-author of a piece about the war in Ukraine that was published on Just Security. “The War in Ukraine and the Legitimacy of the International Criminal Court” was posted August 30.
The atrocities being committed with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine have many people calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable. The article explores how states have come to the support of the International Criminal Court in light of this most-recent crisis and advocates those same states should continue to support the court in an effort to strengthen its legitimacy.
Professor Dutton is a Dean’s Fellow and Grime’s Fellow at IU McKinney, where she teaches evidence, criminal law, criminal procedure, international criminal law, international law, and comparative law. Her scholarship examines questions about international cooperation and the role and effectiveness of international institutions in deterring and holding accountable those who commit crimes of international concern.
