SUBMIT THE IU GRADUATE CAS APPLICATION
In order to create your university identification, IU requires the completion of a short application - the IU Indianapolis Graduate Application. To submit the graduate application:
- Please go to https://iugraduate2026.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login.
- Click on “Begin your application” on the center of the screen.
- Click on "Create an Account."
- Proceed with completing your demographic information and creating a username and password.
- In the "Add Program" section, search for LAWJD. Click on the + next to the program to add it. Make sure the location is IU Indianapolis.
- Complete the following sections: Personal Information, Academic History, Supporting Information, and Program Materials.
- You do not need to upload a transcript; just click on the GPA section to bypass this step.
- Once a section is complete you can click on My Application to go back to the dashboard to access the next section.
- You can bypass uploading documents unless you answered "yes" to a behavior disclosure question and need to attach an explanation.
- Your external application number is your LSAC account number. You will enter this in the Supporting Materials section.
- Once all sections show as complete, click Submit.
SET UP YOUR NETWORK ID
After you are in the main university system, you will receive an email with your University ID number and instructions for setting up your IU network ID (username). Note: this may take 2-3 weeks.
Please set up your network account by going to One.IU and following the directions to obtain your username and set your password. If this is your first time creating an IU account, search for Account and then select Create My First IU Account. If you encounter problems with your account setup, please contact IT Support at 317-274-4357 or support@iu.edu.
**If you previously attended IU Indianapolis or another IU campus, your ID number and login information should remain the same. If you do not have an Exchange account then select Create Additional Accounts, select Exchange, and follow the instructions to set up your additional account.**
REVIEW OPTIONS FOR FINANCING YOUR LEGAL EDUCATION
If you were selected to receive a merit-based scholarship it is stated in your acceptance email and letter. To be considered for donor-funded scholarships you will need to complete the Scholarship Application for Incoming Students. Additional financing options are outlined on the Financial Aid page of the website.
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS
The ABA requires an official undergraduate transcript showing the conferral of the baccalaureate degree to be a required part of a student’s permanent record. Transcripts should be received by our office by the first day of the Fall semester if your graduation date is on or before May 31, 2023. If you will earn your baccalaureate degree during the Summer of 2023, you MUST contact the Office of Enrollment Management.
Please request the degree-granting undergraduate institution to send an official final copy of your transcript, showing the conferral of your degree, directly to LSAC to update your CAS report.
Orientation
New student orientation is mandatory for incoming first-year students and will be held August 12 - 16, 2024. More detailed information can be found on the main J.D. Orientation page.
RESIDENCY
Your residence classification for fee-paying purposes is determined at the time you submit the Indiana University Graduate CAS Application. Non-resident students who wish to become Indiana residents for fee-paying purposes should contact the Registrar’s Office to submit an appeal.
You can find answers to frequently asked questions regarding residency requirements and a link to view the rules used to determine residency on the Office of the Registrar’s web page at https://indianapolis.iu.edu/academics/classes-registration/.
Please note: If you are receiving any type of non-resident merit award, you will lose your eligibility to receive that award if your residency classification changes. You may, however, still be eligible for a merit award with your resident classification. Students receiving merit based awards through the Office of Enrollment Management are advised to keep our office informed of changes to their residency classification.
