Extensive scholarship assistance is available if you have demonstrated academic and professional credentials. However, the LL.M. Program does not generally offer full tuition waivers.
Tuition & Fees
Current tuition and fees for the LL.M. program at IU McKinney Law are as follows:
- Tuition: $38,376 ($1599 per credit hour-24 credits)
- Mandatory fees (for entire program): $1,614
- Books and supplies (estimate): $1,250*
- Computer (if needed) (estimate): $1500*
- Housing and living expenses (estimated for 9 months): $15,926 or $21,235 (estimated for 12 months)
- Health insurance (mandatory for foreign students): $1,843
Total cost including tuition, housing, living expenses, travel, etc.: $60,029 ($65,338 for 12 months)
IU Online charges a $40 per credit hour registration fee for online courses, in addition to the tuition and fees listed above.
*These figures are based on Office of International Affairs estimates and are used to provide the amount of support you will need to document in order to secure a visa, if you should require a student visa. $8,568 of additional funds will need to be documented for any dependents (spouse or child) who will be traveling with you to Indianapolis.
All the above figures are unofficial and subject to change; the official tuition and fee rates are available from the Bursar's Office or from the Office of International Affairs. For visa purposes, you will need complete the Financial Support Agreement, to document that you will be able to support yourself during your studies. If you have more than one sponsor, please have each one complete a form.

To demonstrate the law school's commitment to the LL.M. program and to make it more accessible for qualified students, we will provide scholarship assistance to you if you have outstanding academic/professional credentials. Employer Tuition Assistance
Many employers recognize the value of investing in their employees’ education because of the mutual benefits. This may help to reduce or offset the cost of tuition during your studies. State of Indiana Employees Scholarship Information
State employees will receive a $2,000 scholarship if they are admitted to the Master of Laws (LL.M.) program. Additional funding may be available when applying. Please contact Elise Seidel at mjlaw@iu.edu for details.

Loans
U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible for loans through the federal government. Filing annually the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is required. Questions regarding your financial aid eligibility should be addressed to lawaid@iu.edu.
