Shortly after IU McKinney receives your application from LSAC, you will receive an email containing your LSAC Application Status username and password. You can use this login to see where you are in the process, and if any further action is needed on your part. Your decision will initially be sent as an email. Please allow 48-72 hours after the date listed next to “Decision Email” to receive your decision.
Below you’ll find a listing of the most frequently asked application status questions, along with common status descriptions and definitions of what those descriptions mean:
Q: My current status has remained the same but the date is changing. What does that mean?
A: As your file goes through the review cycle, you will see your Current Status date change while your Current Status will remain unchanged. This is normal processing. When a decision is reached, your Current Status will change to "Decision Made" and "Decision Email" will be listed in the "Mailings" section of your online status.
Q: My Letters of Recommendation have been sent to the LSAC, why aren't they listed under my "Recommenders" section in my Online Status?
A: Please check your LSAC account to make sure your Letters of Recommendation are targeted to our school. For more detailed information about Letters of Recommendation and Evaluation Services available through the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), visit https://www.lsac.org/applying-law-school/jd-application-process/credential-assembly-service-cas/letters-recommendation
Q: The Mailings section of my online status indicates my decision letter has been mailed, but I haven't received it yet. Where is my letter?
A: The date of your mailing may be slightly misleading. The date shown is actually the date your letter was generated. We try to mail the letters as soon as possible after they are printed, usually within 2 days; however, there are occasions when it may take up to 7 days before they are mailed. Please be patient and if your letter does not arrive within 14 days of the date posted on your status, you may call our office for an update (See also Current Status Description: Decision Letter Sent).
Q: My online status now says “Seat Deposit,” does that mean I’ve been accepted?
A: The “Fees” feature of the online status check displays the fees associated with the admissions process. If there is an amount entered in the “Amount Due” filed then you have an outstanding fee to pay. Once your deposit is received and processed you should see a “Date Paid” entered.
