Part-Time Hybrid Program

Your J.D. Degree is closer than you think.
Experience the connection and convenience of a legal education that fits your needs.

IU McKinney, "Indiana's Law School," is the first Indiana law school to offer the J.D. degree program in a hybrid format. Beginning in August 2023, the nationally-ranked IU McKinney part-time program offers the best of both worlds - a significant in-person experience that facilitates relationships with peers and IU McKinney's internationally-recognized faculty together with the flexibility of an online component.

ABA-approved J.D. Program

IU McKinney's Part-time program is ranked #23 by U.S. News and World Report in the 2023 rankings.

The ABA-approved high-quality legal education enjoyed by students enrolled in IU McKinney's full-time program is available to our students enrolled in the part-time hybrid program. In this part-time hybrid program, students--

  • Gain real-world experience from a wide range of clinics, externships, and other experiential courses, including personalized opportunities with judges, governmental agencies, and corporate offices around the state.
  • Take advantage of Inlow Hall, the world-ranked law school building highlighting the magnificent Steve Tuchman and Reed Bobrick Atrium, the Ruth Lilly Law Library, and a variety of modern and technologically sophisticated classrooms, study rooms, and student lounges.
  • Have access to a robust network of nearly 13,000 living alumni (including 8,400 in Indiana), many of whom provide mentoring and other support to students.

The hybrid program at a glance:

  • 90 credit hours to complete your J.D. degree. Includes the hybrid 1st-and 2nd-year courses and, after the 2nd-year courses, students may take up to 44 credit hours of fully online courses
  • Complete your degree in 4 years.

IU McKinney's new Hybrid Program is a great extension of the part-time, evening program that I attended over a decade ago, particularly for working professionals! It would have made my 3.5 years of night school experience while working and raising a family much easier. Certainly it will also help many others pursuing a law degree under similar circumstances.
