Reciprocity
The Office of Professional Development of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law provides reciprocal services to students and graduates of other ABA-approved law schools that are located outside of the State of Indiana and offer reciprocal services to Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law students and graduates. The conditions of our reciprocity policy include the following:
- Reciprocity requests must be submitted in writing by the career services office of the student/graduate’s law school. The request should include the following information for the student/graduate:
- Full name
- Email address
- Program (JD, LLM, MJ, etc.)
- Anticipated graduation term (semester and year)
- Requests should be sent to opdlaw@iu.edu.
- Reciprocal services will be available to students/graduates for a period of ninety (90) days. These services include:
- Access to the Office of Professional Development document library
- Access to job postings through 12Twenty
- Reciprocal services will not be available from August 1 through November 1 due to our fall programming schedule.
Privacy of Information
In accordance with federal law and the policies of Indiana University, the Office of Professional Development will not release grade point averages (GPAs) or transcripts of grades. Employers who desire this information must request it from the student, either directly or through the Office of Professional Development. A student may release this information to the Office of Professional Development with his or her resume to be forwarded to specific employers at the student's discretion.
National Association for Law Placement (NALP)
Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law is a member of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), a nonprofit educational organization established in 1971 to meet the needs of the participants in the legal employment process, such as law schools, legal employers, law students, and graduates. Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law follows NALP standards regarding the conduct of law school offices of professional development.
Non-Discrimination Policy
The Office of Professional Development of Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law strongly opposes discriminatory practice in hiring, in accordance with Standard 205 of the American Bar Association and Bylaw 6-3(b) of the Association of American Law Schools. Services provided by the Office of Professional Development of Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law are available only to employers who provide equal opportunities for all, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sex, gender (including gender identity or expression), sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, or military status. Penalties for violating such regulations and policies may result in denial of access to the Office of Professional Development and Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law facilities. Complaints of discriminatory acts against prospective student employees should be reported to the administrative staff of the Office of Professional Development immediately for investigation.
