Patent agent in the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg; Adjunct professor at the Fairbanks School of Public Health

With a goal of practicing law as a patent attorney, Anusuya Das set her sights on law school. Currently working as a patent agent in the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg and teaching as an adjunct professor at the Fairbanks School of Public Health, the IU McKinney 1L already has a laudable list of accomplishments.

During Ross Brown's undergraduate engineering studies, he said he learned most people in the field focus on specific areas of technology. Engineering appealed to him because “I love learning about new sciences and technology,” he said. After taking three intellectual property courses for engineers that focused on drafting and prosecuting patents, Brown said he realized becoming a patent attorney would be the best career fit for him. “It would be the best route to continue my education for the rest of my life.”.

Chitra Ram set her sights on law school after completing her undergraduate studies at Purdue University, where she earned a degree in Biological Engineering with a concentration in Cellular and Biomolecular Engineering, as well as a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. “I felt like law school was a good fit for my mixed set of skills,” Ram said. “And the law school was in my home state.”
