Practical Work Experience While Pursuing Your LL.M.

International Students must comply with visa regulations and apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT). More information on eligibility for CPT can be found on the Office of International Affairs’ website.

Externship Opportunities

Students must complete the online application during the application period leading up to their third semester to be considered. Students selected for an externship must enroll in and pay for the course, as they do all other law school classes that count towards their degree.  A list of all IU McKinney externship opportunities, along with the application, can be found at https://mckinneylaw.iu.edu/courses/official-descriptions/externships.html.

Clinic Opportunities

LL.M. students are eligible to apply to the Child Advocacy Law Clinic and the Immigration Clinic. Students must complete the online application during the application period leading up to their third semester to be considered. Clinic applications for an upcoming fall semester are generally accepted in or around February. Clinic applications for an upcoming spring semester are generally accepted in or around late September or early October.
