If you are an international student, you must:
- Register with the LSAC Credential Assembly Service (CAS).
- Complete and submit the admission application through LSAC.
- Request transcripts from any higher education institution attended to be sent to LSAC. This step is not required if you completed the foreign study through a study abroad, a consortium, or an exchange program sponsored by a U.S. or Canadian institution, and the work is clearly indicated as such on your home campus transcript.
- Complete the Indiana University International Application. There are directions to submit the IU Indianapolis International Graduate Application on their website. You may also contact the Office of International Affairs by e-mail at: oia@iu.edu, phone 317-274-7000, or fax 317-278-2213. The Office of International Affairs is responsible for all travel documents and immigration concerns.
- Prove English language proficiency by submitting a TOEFL or IELTS score electronically to LSAC. Scores must be less than 2 years old to be valid. The minimum score required is 81 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) or 6.5 on IELTS. If you are from or have graduated with a degree from a college or university in the U.S. or other English-speaking country, you may be exempt from submitting a TOEFL or IELTS. Please see IU Indianapolis' Office of International Affairs's list of English-speaking countries.
- If you are a U.S. permanent resident, you must send a copy, front and back, of your permanent resident card to the Office of Admissions at the law school.
- If offered admission, and you are NOT a native English speaker, you will be required to take the English for Academic Purposes Test (EAP) during Orientation. This test will determine the number of English support courses you may need.
- Submit a financial support agreement. For visa purposes, this document is needed as proof you will be able to support yourself during your studies.
