McKinney Degrees with Intellectual Property Concentrations
S.J.D. Degree
The Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) is the terminal degree in law designed for individuals interested in a career in academia. There is no required curriculum for the S.J.D. Instead, it is a research-based degree. To complete your candidacy, you will be required to produce a dissertation of publishable quality constituting an original and scholarly contribution to the area of law you have chosen. LL.M. Degree - Intellectual Property Law Track
Integral to the Center has been the establishment of the LL.M. track in Intellectual Property Law. Students who already hold the J.D. degree or equivalent, or are admitted to practice of law in any worldwide jurisdiction, are invited to apply for admission to this track of the law school's Master of Laws Degree Program. Taken full time, a student can complete the degree in one academic year, and at least half of the credits earned will be in courses related to IP law. Enriched program options, courses, and other opportunities benefit J.D. students as well as LL.M. students. J.D. students are welcome in nearly all courses that are open to LL.M. students, and the growing array of instruction and research opportunities, conferences, internships, and other initiatives will allow all students to explore interests and career possibilities in all aspects of IP law. M.J. Degree
This M.J. is designed for individuals who are interested in increasing their legal knowledge, and potentially advance, their careers, but who do not want to practice law. The M.J. degree allows you to work one-on-one with a faculty advisor to create your own individualized curriculum focusing on the areas of the law that will help your career the most.
