If you are a law school graduate or lawyer from the U.S. or abroad, the IU McKinney International Human Rights Law LL.M. Track will help you expand your understanding of international human rights law and prepare you to apply your knowledge in professional settings.  You will:

  • Develop the skills of legal research, analysis, and communication that are essential to understanding and applying human rights law in the transnational legal environment;
  • Have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international human rights law, including investigation and advocacy on human rights issues and access to internships with international human rights agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Employ a problems-based approach to reviewing international human rights instruments and the United Nations and regional systems for the promotion and protection of human rights;
  • Learn the concepts and principles of public international law, including the law of treaties, state liability and human rights, and jurisdiction and immunities from jurisdiction;
  • Earn a degree that will help you pursue employment with international human rights agencies, national government agencies, and non-governmental organizations;
  • Begin a path toward an academic career in the field of human rights.

At this time, Robert H. McKinney School of Law is not accepting new applications for its International Human Rights Law Track.
