This program supports externship opportunities for students with environmental organizations and advanced research opportunities with individual faculty.
The Environmental Advocacy Externship (D802) placement is with one of several environmental and natural resource organizations and agencies working at a local, state, and regional level. Placement opportunities vary. Recent placements have included the Sierra Club, Save the Dunes, the Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC), and Improving Kids’ Environment (IKE). Through these placements, students have helped to provide public interest representation on environmental issues pending before administrative agencies and state and federal courts, and have worked to address policy issues before legislative and regulatory bodies.
IU McKinney also offers SEP opportunities which allow students to earn academic credit for experiential learning of their own finding and interest.
