Prof. Guinier will speak about her endeavors in aspiring to become the first female African American tenured law professor at Harvard, as well as the effects of being publicly ridiculed for her thoughts on cumulative voting, specifically the effects of President Clinton’s nomination and then withdrawal of her nomination to head the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice in 1993.
