| 5:00 – 6:30 p.m | CONSTITUTION DAY CLE & ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION Wynne Courtroom EX PARTE MILLIGAN: INDIANA'S MOST FAMOUS SUPREME COURT CASE Professor of Practice, Frank Sullivan, Jr. (60 minutes) 1.0 Hour of CLE CLE Description: Indiana’s Most Famous Supreme Court Case Professor Frank Sullivan, Jr., will lecture on Ex parte Milligan, the most famous Supreme Court case from Indiana. Before the Court in 1866 was the question of whether Lambdin P. Milligan, a Southern sympathizer in Indiana, could be tried for treason before a military commission rather than a civilian court. Professor Sullivan will discuss why, in holding Milligan’s conviction and death sentence imposed by a military tribunal to be unconstitutional, the Court rendered a decision of historical, contemporary, and jurisprudential significance. Parking is available for a nominal fee at the campus Gateway Garage, located on the corner of Michigan and California Streets (Address is 525 Blackford Street).
Parking is also available for a nominal fee at the Natatorium Garage two blocks west of the law school.
