This year's Hall Center for Law & Health Annual Conference on Health, Disability and the Law, titled "Education, Stability and Foster Care: Implementing IDEA and the Fostering Connection Act for Youth in Foster Care" will be held on June 14 in the Wynne Courtroom. 6 hours of CLE credit available.

Fee:

An attendee fee of $100 has been set for this program. Parents and students can attend for $25 per person. This fee includes conference materials, continental breakfast, break refreshments, and lunch.

Keynote Speakers:

Peter Pecora, MSW PhD

Dr. Pecora has a joint appointment as the Managing Director of Research Services for Casey Family Programs, and Professor, School of Social Work, University of Washington. He has worked with a number of state departments of social services in the United States and in other countries to refine foster care programs, implement intensive home-based services, and design risk assessment systems for child protective services . With faculty from UCLA and USC, he is evaluating community-based child abuse prevention strategies in Los Angeles. With Walter R. McDonald and Associates he is evaluating group care reform in California. He has published many journal articles and books, including:

Elaine Fink, JD

Elaine Fink is a Managing Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC, an affiliate of Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati. She has spearheaded efforts to establish programs that improve outcomes for low-income children and promote systemic change. As a leader to promote education success for youth in foster care, she is the Project Director for Kids in School Rule!, a collaboration to improve education success for Cincinnati Public School students who are in the child protection system. She manages the Cincinnati Child Health-Law Partnership, a medical legal partnership with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and TeamChild, a program to reduce recidivism and improve school outcomes for youth in the juvenile delinquency system. She earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law where she was a Root-Tilden-Snow Scholar and an Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Fellow, and earned her Bachelor's degree, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Michigan. She worked at South Brooklyn Legal Services for four years as a staff attorney, and joined Legal Aid in Cincinnati in 1984.
