- Recipient, U.S. Secretary of State 2015 International Women of Courage Award (Awarded by John Kerry)
- Founder and Director, Oficina Jurídica para la Mujer (Legal Office for Women) (Bolivia)
- Jailed during dictatorship era. Fierce defender of independent civil society. Advocating for the rights of Bolivian women.
- Her NGO provides legal assistance to women in emblematic rape, sexual assault, and domestic abuse cases
- Her NGO provided services to over 30,000 women in Bolivia. Influenced nearly every piece of legislation advancing women’s rights over past 30 years.
- Her advocacy resulted in stricter rape / sexual assault penalties, greater reproductive rights protections, and enhanced gender parity laws that helped make Bolivia’s 2015-2020 Legislative Assembly one of the most gender equal in the world
