IU McKinney Alumnus Publishes New Edition of Book on Disaster Relief Law
10/29/2014
Michael J. Kelly, ’94, a professor of law and associate dean for faculty research, graduate, and international programs at Creighton University School of Law, has updated the book The International Law of Disaster Relief, which he edited with David D. Caron and Anastasia Telesetsky. The book was published in October 2014 by Cambridge University Press.
“This collection of works by legal experts reconceptualizes the framework of international law as a foundation for the delivery of foreign aid in the wake of disasters and the accompanying policies geared toward disaster risk reduction,” Kelly said. “The book offers critical insight into the nature and array of problems faced by societies as they recover from natural and man-made disasters.”
Kelly received his LL.M. in international law from the Georgetown Law Center. He taught at Michigan State University College of Law for five years before moving to Creighton, where he has been on the faculty since 2001.
