McKinney Students Organize Panel Discussion to Address Injustice of Poverty
11/20/2014
Students from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law hosted a panel discussion on environmental justice on November 20 at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Indianapolis.
“Our focus is to introduce the community to what environmental justice is and specifically to highlight three main issues we have identified in Indianapolis,” said McKinney student and event organizer Ravay Smith. She was quoted in an article about the event that appears in the November 19 issue of Nuvo, written by McKinney student Rebecca Berfanger. The issues of most concern to the students, and to residents of low-income neighborhoods, are lead contamination, combined sewer overflows, and economic hardships that stem from environmental disparities.
