Judge Gerald Zore, '68, Retiring after 40 Years of Service

Marion Superior Probate Judge Gerald Zore, '68, has announced his retirement after 40 years of service to the bench. He was appointed to the Marion Superior Court on December 23, 1974.
Judge Zore served as associate presiding judge of the Marion Superior Courts from 2001-2004, and again from 2009-2010. He was presiding judge of the courts from 2007-2008.
Judge Zore was honored with the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Silver Gavel Award in 2013. His nomination for the honor noted “As a judge, he is thoughtful, rules timely on matters and does not shirk his duty or recuse himself just because the matter before him is controversial or difficult.”
He also was honored as a finalist in Indianapolis Business Journal’s Health Care Heroes honors program in 2013 for his work as a volunteer with the Indiana Blood Center. Judge Zore has donated blood since his college days at Marian University.
Judge Zore is a member of the Indiana Supreme Court’s Commission on Race and Gender Fairness, the Board of Directors of Cathedral High School, the Board of Directors of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law Alumni Association, and the Noble of Indiana Advisory Board.
The Indianapolis Bar Association is sponsoring a reception in his honor from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. December 19 at the City County Building in the 17th Floor Courtroom. Special presentations will be made at 2 p.m. The legal community is invited to attend.
