Judge D'Amour, '81, Named Chief Judge of Vanderburgh Superior Court

The Honorable Richard D’Amour, ’81, has been chosen to serve as chief judge of the Vanderburgh Superior Court. He was selected by the six other judges on the Superior Court. Judge D’Amour was a practicing attorney in Evansville for 24 years before he was appointed to the Superior Court as a magistrate in 2005. He was elected to the bench in 2011.
Judge D’Amour will be responsible for the administrative operations of the entire Superior Court system in Vanderburgh County. In addition to the seven judges, there are five magistrates who are appointed by the judges. There are about 70 employees in Superior Court, including court reporters, bailiffs, probations officers and a court administrator.
