IU McKinney School of Law Launches Podcast Series
01/14/2015
“What makes people so passionate about the law?” This is the question that sparked the new podcast series produced by Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. The podcast is called "Is it legal?" and features a series of interviews with professors, alumni and even current students at the school who have backgrounds that mix law with a variety of areas from human rights to museums.
While it’s obvious why some topics are “legal”—like the International Criminal Court—others may not be quite evident at first glance. Some may wonder what the law has to do with the earthquake that struck Haiti five years ago. Tune in to hear Professor Fran Quigley talk about his work in that country and why there is cause for hope, thanks in part to lawyers.
“Law intersects with just about everything you can name and people with a legal background have a very unique way of looking at a lot of topics,” said Andrew R. Klein, Dean of the IU McKinney School of Law. “This podcast series really does have something of interest for everyone.”
Multi-Media Specialist and podcast host David Plough says he wanted to show the many different ways that people arrive at getting a law degree and the myriad things they do with it afterward.
Upcoming episodes will cover topics from environmental law to building schools in Nepal, and future guests will include an Intellectual Property pioneer, as well as a deputy commissioner of a college athletic conference.
“It won’t be boring and you’re bound to learn something new---we promise!” said Plough.
