01/21/2015
Professor James D. Dimitri, clinical professor of law at IU McKinney, has co-authored a first of its kind book for moot court advisors. It will be published in February by Carolina Academic Press.
Professor Dimitri has been working on The Moot Court Advisor’s Handbook: A Guide for Law Students, Faculty, and Practitioners, with co-authors Susie Salmon of the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law and Melissa Greipp of Marquette University Law School.
The book is aimed at those who have been asked to advise a moot court team, and offers help for law students, professors, and attorneys alike. Chapters cover administering a moot court program, running a competition, scoring, judge training, and more.
Professor Dimitri is a summa cum laude graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law, who practiced at the Indianapolis firm Frank & Kraft before serving as staff counsel for the Indiana Department of Correction. He later served as a deputy attorney general with the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. He began teaching as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney in 1997, and was appointed as a full-time professor in 1998. Professor Dimitri serves as faculty advisor to the Moot Court Society, advising the board in its administration of the Honorable Robert H. Staton Intramural Moot Court Competition.
