Ryan Marques, '10, Named Honorary Consul of Portugal to State of Indiana

Ryan Marques, ’10, an associate at the Indianapolis law firm Lewis & Kappes, has been named the Honorary Consul of Portugal to the State of Indiana. In this role, he is responsible for promoting trade, investment, and tourism between Portugal and Indiana. He meets regularly with state and local government officials and corporate leaders to explain Portugal’s interests. He reports directly to the Embassy of Portugal in Washington, D.C., and performs diplomatic functions as directed by Portugal’s government.
Marques is an associate in Lewis & Kappes’ immigration group. Prior to joining the firm, he was a legislative intern for the Indiana House of Representatives. He also served as an economic development analyst at the Indiana Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, where he researched and wrote monthly reports on economic development, international labor migration, and minority business enterprise development. He also served as business advocacy manager for the Hispanic Business Council for the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, and served as economic advisor to the Indianapolis Mayor’s Commission on Latino Affairs during Mayor Bart Peterson’s administration.
