IU McKinney Embarking on Self-Study for Reaccreditation
01/29/2015

As part of its periodic re-accreditation by the American Bar Association, Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law is currently engaging in a self-study and re-evaluation of its mission statement and educational goals
Professors Cynthia Baker and Max Huffman are leading the mandatory self-assessment project, which they hope to complete during the Spring 2015 semester. “This is both a requirement, as well as a great opportunity, to ensure our institution is in tune with its mission,” they said. To help ensure the law school’s mission resonates with the institution as well as the legal community, Professors Baker and Huffman say their committee will host both real and virtual conversations with alumni and other stakeholders. Meetings will be held on Thursday, February 19 (12:45-2:00 pm, room 103, Clinic Conference Room), Tuesday, February 24 (8:00-9:15 p.m., room 135M, first floor, Ruth Lilly Law Library), and on Thursday, February 26 (12:45-2:00 pm, room 135M, first floor Ruth Lilly Law Library). Please sign up if you plan to attend in person, or if you wish to receive a link to attend by video conference. http://mckinneylaw.iu.edu/about/mission-statement-drafting-session-signup.html
Currently, the law school’s mission is to be a premier public law school that advances understanding of the law; prepares students to be excellent, ethical professionals and leaders; provides service to society at a local, state, national and international level; and promotes a diverse humane, and supportive community of persons engaged in influential scholarship, teaching, and service.
All law schools accredited by the American Bar Association are required to submit an application for renewal of that approval every seven years. IU McKinney Law is due to be reviewed by the ABA during the 2016-2017 academic year.
