Professor Pitts to Take Part in Voting Rights Symposium at Florida State

Professor Michael Pitts will participate in a symposium March 27 and 28 at Florida State University College of Law that will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.
Titled “The Law of Democracy at a Crossroads: Reflecting on Fifty Years of Voting Rights and the Judicial Regulation of the Political Thicket,” the event will examine the changes that have happened since the United States Supreme Court began deciding challenges to the Act.
Professor Pitts is known for his scholarship regarding voting rights and election administration. He is a Dean’s Fellow, a two-time winner of the Red Cane Award for best new professor and a two-time winner of the Black Cane Award for best professor. Professor Pitts received the Trustee’s Teaching Award in 2010.
