Marcia Greenberger to Present Birch Bayh Lecture at IU McKinney

Marcia Greenberger, the founder and co-president of the National Women’s Law Center in Washington, D.C., will present the third annual Birch Bayh Lecture on April 2 at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
A recognized expert on women and the law, particularly in the areas of education and employment, health and reproductive rights, and family economic security, Greenberger has been a leader in securing the passage of major legislation like the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and the Civil Rights Act of 1991 that provided protections against sexual harassment on the job. She also has served as counsel in landmark litigation establishing new legal protections for women like United States Supreme Court victories strengthening protections for students and teachers against sex discrimination in schools.
The creation of the National Women’s Law Center in 1981 established Greenberger as the first full-time women’s rights legal advocate in Washington, D.C. Her list of accolades is extensive, and includes the James Wilson Award and the Alumni Award of Merit from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women "Beacon" Leadership Award, the American Bar Association Margaret Brent Award for 2012, among many others. She received a Presidential appointment to the National Skill Standards Board, and currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights.
The lecture will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Inlow Hall Wynne Courtroom. A reception in the atrium will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and carries with it 1.0 hour of CLE with a registration.
