Professor Mohamed Arafa, S.J.D. '13, Presents on Arab Spring, Takes Part in IU McKinney Podcast

Professor Mohamed Arafa, S.J.D. ’13, will give a talk about the latest developments in Egypt and the Arab Spring in a round table discussion hosted by Montclaire State University in the Justice Studies department. The talk takes place on April 15.
Next, Professor Arafa will present his upcoming law review article titled "Judicial Corporal Punishment in the United States?! Lessons from Islamic Criminal Law for Curing the Ills of Mass Incarceration" on April 17 at Florida State University, site of the American Society of Comparative Law’s fourth annual conference. The piece is slated to be published in the next edition of the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review.
Arafa will give an online speech on the Arab Spring and the latest developments concerning human rights in the Middle East at "What’s Going On: Contemporary International Debates?" at the University of Univates Faculty of Law in Brazil on April 27.
In addition, Arafa was interviewed for IU McKinney’s “Is It Legal?” podcast. During the podcast, Arafa talked about his experiences as a law professor in the United States, and made some remarks on the Arab Spring and the situation in his native Egypt.
Arafa is an assistant professor of criminal law and criminal justice at Alexandria University Faculty of Law in Egypt. He is teaching Islamic law as an adjunct professor at IU McKinney during the Spring 2015 semester.
