Professor Quigley to Speak at Book Launch May 8
04/27/2015
Professor Fran Quigley, ’87, will speak about his latest book titled If We Can Win Here: The New Front Lines of the Labor Movement at an event on May 8.
The book examines the rise of service-sector workers in the labor movement in the United States. Jobs in food service, maintenance, and security are available, but most pay poorly and have unreliable hours and working conditions, Professor Quigley said. The event will include a discussion of worker’s rights, and some of the workers Quigley wrote about in his book will be at the book launch event.
Bookmammas is a new and used independent bookstore located in Irvington on the Indianapolis east side. The shop is located at 9 S. Johnson Ave., and the event begins at 5 p.m. on May 8.
Professor Quigley is a clinical professor of law, teaching in the Health and Human Rights Clinic. Clinic students advocate for rights on behalf of the poor, and have a special focus on representing low-wage workers.
