Dennis E. Bland, ’92, will present the commencement address at Marian University on May 9. He also will receive an honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane Letters degree from Marian during the ceremony.

Bland is president of the Center for Leadership Development, and Indianapolis non-profit organization dedicated to empowering African-American youth for academic and career success. In addition to providing curriculum-based youth development programs, the group’s College Prep Institute helps prepare 6,000 students and parents for academic and career achievement.

Bland was honored by the law school and Equal Justice Works in 2013 during the annual Public Interest Recognition Dinner.
