IU McKinney Student Spending Summer in Ireland, India
06/29/2015
Zahra Ayoubi, ’J.D. 15, and now a current LL.M. student on the health law track at IU McKinney, is spending her summer as an intern with the law school’s Program in International Human Rights Law (PIHRL).
In the photo, Ayoubi is taking in some of the sights around Dublin.
Ayoubi is currently in Dublin working at the Immigrant Council of Ireland. The council is an independent human rights organization and law center which advocates for the rights of migrants and their families.
“I am interning in their anti-human trafficking unit dealing with laws that impact this area, attending workshops and European Union conferences, and reporting on topics such as methods and methodologies used in researching the sex trade,” Ayoubi said.
She will travel to New Delhi, India, in early July, where she will intern at the Human Rights Law Network. That group provides pro bono legal services, conducts public interest litigation, and engages in advocacy. Ayoubi will conduct research, draft public interest petitions, do fact-finding work, and potentially working with clients.
Ayoubi is one of eight IU McKinney J.D. and LL.M. students who are spending their summer in 12 different cities across the globe in PIHRL internships.
