Joane Theodule, an IU McKinney 3L, is spending her summer in internships in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Cape Town, South Africa.
Theodule is currently in Chiang Mai, where she is working for Bridges Across Borders South East Asia—Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEA CLE). It is an international access to justice, legal education organization that focuses on ethically oriented legal capacity development and community empowerment. It works with universities, law students, law professors, attorneys, and other members of the legal community to develop clinical legal education programs throughout Asia. “Through this externship program, I have made new friends and learned about various cultures that I would not have otherwise been exposed to,” Theodule said. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.”
Theodule is one of eight IU McKinney J.D. and LL.M. students who are spending their summer in 12 different cities across the globe in PIHRL internships.
