Women's Suffrage Celebrated at CLE Program August 26
08/10/2015
“She Votes 1920-2015: 95th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage” will be held at the Indianapolis Propylaeum on August 26. The event will celebrate the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was ratified by Tennessee on August 18, 1920, making it the 36th state to complete the two-thirds majority needed to become law. It was signed and made part of the Constitution on August 26 that same year.
IU McKinney is presenting the CLE portion of the program during a luncheon event. Titled “The New Voter Suppression and the Constitution,” the discussion will center around the impact on women voters, among others.
The evening event will include comments from Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson and Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz, as well as suffragist re-enactors and posters highlighting the struggle for the vote.
Registration is $35 for attorneys who wish to receive the CLE credit; registration for all other attendees is $25. Space is limited. Register by contacting SheVOTEScommittee@gmail.com.
