Michael Bishop, '80, to Serve on Indianapolis Bar Association Board

Michael P. Bishop, ’80, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Bishop, a partner at Cohen Garelick & Glazier, will serve a two-year term beginning in January 2016.
Bishop concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation, probate and trust litigation, mediation and arbitration and adoption law. He was recognized by Senator Richard G. Lugar as a 2012 Angels in Adoption awardee for his outstanding advocacy of adoption. He has also been selected as a “Distinguished Barrister” as part of Indiana Lawyer’s Leadership in Law awards.
In 2008, Bishop was selected as a member of the American Arbitration Association National Roster of Neutrals. Bishop is a Fellow of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators, a Distinguished Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, and a Master Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation. Further, Bishop has been selected as a Best Lawyer 2004-2016 and as a Super Lawyer 2004-2015.
Bishop is the author of “Civil Mediation,” and a member of the faculty of the Indiana Trial Advocacy College. He is the primary trainer for Advanced Training for Civil Trial Mediators in Indiana. Bishop is past chair of the litigation section of the Indianapolis Bar Association and a founding member of the IBA Settlement Week. He served as secretary to the Board of Governors for the Indiana State Bar Association, was chair of the ISBA ADR Section, was a district representative on the ISBA Board of Governors, a member of the Board of Directors for Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, and is past president of the Board of Directors for the Indiana Bar Foundation. Bishop is also past president of the Sagamore American Inn of Court, where he continues to serve as one of the founding Benchers of the Inn.
